Where should I look to find a penny stock that’s making moves? How do I find the names of stocks worth investing in? They’re pretty common questions here at Penny Sleuth HQ – and they’re questions that we attempt to answer each Monday in our Penny Stock Watchlist…

Every week, we drum up a list of penny stocks that are exhibiting abnormal volume, strong technicals, upcoming news, or another catalyst that suggested they might be making a material move in the coming week.

With investors’ interest in the market rekindled after a strong week for stocks, it’s time to look at four stocks that are set to move right now.

First, let’s see how last week’s Watchlist performed. Last week, all five stocks on our Watchlist moved in the direction we predicted on Monday, with one stock – LiveDeal (NASDAQ: LIVE) – brining in as much as 11.4% returns in just five trading sessions.

That’s a compound annual growth rate of more than 273%!

And while our Watchlist errs on the safe side of small-caps, using technical analysis to tell us where a stock is headed, we opened the comments up to readers last week, giving you the chance to offer up more speculative penny stock plays — and win a special edition DVD of I.O.U.S.A. in the process…

Bringing in the top honors last week was Penny Sleuth reader Stanley S., whose Continental Prison (PINK: CPSZ) pick brought in 71.4% returns last week. Also in the winner’s circle was Sandra M., who eeked out a 30% jump in San West (OTC: SNWT) and Louise, whose BioLargo (OTC: BLGO) pick raked in 33%. All three of our winners will be getting a Penny Sleuth Prize Package in the mail for their trouble.

You’ll get another chance to win this week. More on that in a minute…

First, onto this week’s Penny Stock Watchlist:

American Science & Engineering (NASDAQ: ASEI) – This Massachusetts-based security stock delivered awesome second quarter earnings last week, prompting buyers to go on a rally, and pushing shares up more than 7% on Friday. Expect strong technicals and buyer sentiment to keep this stock rising in the coming week.

GeoGlobal Resources (AMEX: GGR) – This $91 million oil and gas exploration company focuses on finding commodity reserves in India. And while they’re far from profitable at the moment, as far as an intraweek play is concerned, the bullish technicals and uptick in volume on this stock right now make a good enough case for picking up shares.

Video Display Corp (NASDAQ: VIDE) – Video Display Corporation is a designer, manufacturer and supplier of CRT and flat panel display devices. While Video Display Corp. is higher on the volatility spectrum than our other Watchlist stocks this week, increased investor visibility should serve shareholders well.

Global-Tech Advanced Innovations (NASDAQ: GAI) – This week’s only short play, Global-Tech Advanced Innovations is a Chinese consumer products maker. This low-volume stock is currently trading just under significant resistance at its 200-day moving average. Watch for this stock to hit its head on resistance – otherwise an upward breakout could hurt those betting against the stock. Watch this one closely if you decide to play it.

How to Play SFNL

Penny Sleuth reader Mark D. wants your help this week:

“I would like to see your thoughts on a small company in the electronic payment processing business, Secured Financial Network (OTC: SFNL), the float is roughly 28M and tightly held so it trades thin, chart indicates long term accumulation and the company does not engage in putting out fluffbomb PRs and is growing Q over Q even during the current economic crisis. I am a long term holder in that stock and would like to hear your opinion on it…”

Have an opinion about SFNL? Just post your analysis in the comments section of this article. You can even post your favorite penny stock pick at the same time…

Once again, we’re going interactive this week… And giving readers the chance to win a free copy of I.O.U.S.A. in the process.

Just post your recommendation below in the comments section of this article between now and the market’s close on Friday, November 13. The two readers with the best performing picks each score a Special Edition DVD of the award-winning documentary.

Cheers,
Jonas Elmerraji

  21. Jerry G congratulations on that stock! A small microcap that is very undervalued and overlooked is SFNL, they are growing revenues Q over Q and will be cashflow positive very soon if not already there, 10Q should be out soon. Company has been in the electronic and wireless payment processing segment for just about 3 years in a 40B plus market. This is not a quick trade stock due to the low volume traded but has a low float and is very undervalued. It is worth doing some real DD for an investment. They have alot going for them including direct integration with QuickBooks and their hardware and payment platform. They have an exclusive distributorship with Blue Bamboo for their wireless processing hardware which is also being sold on Intuit’s go payment website. I fully expect that relationship to continue growing. anyway that’s my opinion. Look at the 10 month chart with the Accumulation/distribution indicator and see long term accumulation.

  22. my pick HENC

  23. My pick is NPHC – they are just waiting on initial sales sales of it’s Cobroxin(1st OTC pain reliever to treat Mod-Severe pain) and it is due out any time now – then we are off to the races – just check out all the DD on the IHUB board ibox – everything there will tell you this is a no brainer investment of the year!

  24. BLVI

If not now, soon! When it hits your town, sample this AWESOME new German import beer, BLACK ART!
At .04- the skies the limit!! Soon to be promoted on Monday Night Football!!!

  25. Mark, I too an very bullish on SFNL!!! Have been long the stock for quite some time, but as you have said, it is about to get legs IMO. The float is very small and tightly held (my best guess on the actual float is somewhere from 15 to 20 M shares and the total O/S is only around 52M. This is not a stock for a quick flip, but more of a long term play and has huge potential as you have pointed out. They have great realtionships which are just starting to pay off for them with Blue Bamboo and Intuit. As of late, the CFO has been making purchases of the stock at prices higher than the the current pps of .07 and that means alot to me. This stock is very much under the radar and fairly thin trading, but has the potential to move Bigtime, especially as they realease news of becoming cash flow positive….very much worth a look and more IMO.

  26. Jonas Elmerraji / Mark D,

When clicking on the link – “Secured Financial Network (OTC: SFNL)”, the link leads you to SNFL, which is a TYPO.

    This needs to be corrected.

  27. I have been with this stock for about 2 years and I have experienced a great gain in the stock by buying at the dips. I have NEVER sold a share since buying my first shares. I am waiting for the big payoff, which should be coming in the next 1 – 2 years for this company. They have been able to create revenue gains Q over Q during the worst economic times that I have seen! When the economy starts to pick up, this stock will soar! I really think that when the more recent earnings come out and with the projection of Revenues of > $400K next Q, they will be cash flow positive and we will see many great things start to happen. I have been accumulating at the current price range (.07 – .085) as I think it is too low to pass up. Keep this one on your watch list!

  28. MY PENNYSTOCK PICK IS ZIPI.

  29. My pick is Evolution Fuels (EVFL) if you want money look at this FLASH PLAY MOVER priced at .0001 opening up blended gas stations from Texas- Mississippi with Franchises up for sale … sush this one will make you rich—production to retail in an World Energy Crisis —

  31. SFNL news out, new revenue stream.

Commerce Online Announces Agreement With RedFin Network For Medical Marijuana Dispensary Pre-Paid Loyalty Card Program

-Companies to begin new loyalty card program with licensed California dispensaries this month

PALM BEACH, Fla., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Commerce Online Inc. (Pink Sheets: CMIB) (http://www.commerceonlineinc.com/), a leading company specializing in both bricks and mortar and online merchant payment solutions, today announced its agreement and strategic partnership with RedFin Network, Inc. (http://www.redfinnet.com/), a wholly owned subsidiary of Secured Financial Network Inc. (OTC:SFNL) (BULLETIN BOARD: SFNL) , to launch its branded, pre-paid loyalty and ID card for licensed medical marijuana dispensaries and collectives operating within the states of California and Colorado.

In an effort to keep these collectives within the guidelines of CA Proposition 215 and SB 420, the Commerce pre-paid stored value and loyalty card will offer a unique cash alternative to these regulated dispensaries for both suppliers and members of collectives. Under new legal guidelines to be issued by the Obama administration, no longer seeking prosecution of medical marijuana users or suppliers as long as they conform to state laws, Commerce Online and RedFin Network will seek to capitalize on this presently untapped and much needed solution.

“We expect to start installing our first card systems later this month,” stated Michael Friedman for Commerce Online. Fourteen states presently allow some use of marijuana for medical purposes: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington. California is unique among those for the widespread presence of dispensaries – businesses that sell marijuana and even advertise their services. According to a recent Fortune Magazine article, there are an estimated 300,000 to 400,000 medical marijuana patients in the state now, and the figure is rapidly growing. More astonishingly, there are about 700 medical marijuana dispensaries now operating in California openly distributing the drug. “CMIB is presently poised to pick up a majority share of this untapped marketplace by offering our proven secure payment solution through our alliance partners and to move toward the legitimization of the medical marijuana industry,” further stated Friedman.

The Commerce Online branded, pre-paid loyalty and ID card will be marketed through our new Collective Card Services division, and may be loaded to any denomination of funds with direct deposit at local bank, via the Internet, POS system by the member of the collective or medical dispensary. The RedFin Network PCI Compliant Payment Gateway will handle all loyalty transactions at the point of sale. In case of theft or loss, the card may be cancelled immediately through an 800 number provided or online. The card will also act as the Collective member’s identification having the option of a Picture ID, medical id number identifying him/her as a collective member, the collective name, and expiration date of membership,” stated Michael Friedman for Commerce Online.

  32. My pick is imgg. Imaging3 inc. has developed an imaging technology that allows doctors and surgeons to see live images of the internal parts of the human body. The stock has shot up in the last few months from a low of .04 to closing at $1.46 yesterday.

  33. One stock that I have followed for a long time is HRAL. in the past couple years they have done a tremendous job with the company to date. I truly believe that in time they will do well for their investors.

  34. I believe the winner in the Penny stock catagory for this w3eek will be ” BIEL “. They have hung together for a long time waiting for FDA to approve their products, which hopefully happens trhis week. They are a good company that doesn’t give up.
