Monday Penny Stock Watchlist: Five Stocks to Watch This Week, Plus Score a FREE Copy of I.O.U.S.A.
It’s hard to find good investing opportunities. That’s by far one of the most common comments we get from readers here at the Penny Sleuth. For that reason, starting this week we’re sending out your Monday Penny Stock Watchlist – a rundown of the small-cap companies that you should keep your eye on for the coming week.
And this week, we’re going interactive. Share your favorite small-cap play for the chance to win a free copy of I.O.U.S.A. More on that in a minute…
These stocks are exhibiting abnormal volume, strong technicals, upcoming news, or another catalyst that suggests they might be making a material move in the coming week.
Gold Reserve (NYSE:GRZ) – This tiny exploration and mining company is focused on its projects in Venezuela, and has benefited in a big way from the gold hype of the last few weeks. As a result, shares are up 98% in the last three months.
The technicals look good for this stock as well. GRZ rallied hard as gold fever began to catch, and is currently toward the end of a flag continuation pattern. That suggests that this stock is going to push higher – possibly even by the end of the week. Strong volume early in Monday’s trading looks like that prognosis should hold true.
GTx Inc. (NASDAQ:GTXI) – Pharmaceuticals have been big lately (and have even contributed to quite a bit of Penny Stock Fortunes’ gains), and the outlook for GTx Inc. is no different. This drug developer is looking at increased investor activity after taking its knocks in the last month or so. A reversal could be big for investors who are in the right place at the right time.
The Geo Group (NYSE:GEO) – Crime is big business, and not just for the criminals. Companies are also getting a taste of the crime business as they step into roles as government contractors. The Geo Group, which operates prisons in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and South Africa, is just such a company. The stock gapped up Monday morning on higher volume from investors, and the stock doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. This company could be a worthwhile intraweek play.
Exterran Holdings (NYSE:EXH) – Shares of natural gas company Exterran Holdings are down following Barron’s realization that the company could be overvalued by as much as 40%. This potential short opportunity flies in the face of conventional wisdom, which has had investors placing bets on natural gas companies as the commodity itself gained on trading floors across the world. But with the reach of a publication like Barron’s, expect investors to be wary of this small-cap for a while… Shares could dip more before the week is over.
Ultratech (NASDAQ:UTEK) – Last week, Ultratech hit a “double top” – a bearish technical pattern that points to a big drop in share prices. Sure enough, shares fell in the last couple of trading sessions as a result. But if the technicals hold for this small-cap semiconductor play, this stock has further to fall. With analyst day scheduled for October 21, the catalyst could come sooner rather than later.

Take a look at POWR.
My pick is AMNP and I have turned this over 4 times already, buy it at under 1.40 and hang on for the ride to 15 or more dollars
Txcoq- A small oil and gas company…. check it out.
Matech Corp. (MTCH) is starting to bounce. It is now under .20 cents per share and its 52 week hi is $3.94 per share.
ALKN
my opinion on this stock is that it will possibly move in the next week or more. it will just take time and a good promotion stating that this company has a real CEO, real products and is not just a PND. peoples main complaints about the company was that they were not able to access the company (by email or phone) as they were both rejected. If they do exist, it should not be any issues to get a hold of them.
For now, I will add this to my WATCH LIST @ .017
Editor’s Note: Shortened for length…
Audiocodes LTD audc
I bought it at $1.06 it’s up to 2.93 a146.24%
MATECH Corp. (MTCH.OB) The volume has picked up and the stock is starting to rise again. Get in now under .20 cents per share.
My pick, a gold stock, is KGN, it keeps moving up. Around $5 now. Best of luck.

NHYT
I small ca company that developed a technology for recycling waste water at oil refineries. Very speculative but getting some attention lately – it just pulled back to an important support. As of Monday it closed at $0.168. Watch for a rebound by the end of the week!

Polymet Mining TSX: pom
mdor this is a tire recycleing company that recycles old tres into new ones.
One good opportunity for the long side is LYC.ASX. This is a company that is ahead if the pack in development of rare earths. These are metals needed for all sorts of high tech uses and the list of uses is expanding all the time. They are still little known it seems and the Chinese have the market cornered almost. At about US$0-55c there is likely a healthy profit in this stock in the next 2 to 3 years
Gerry
What about CTYX and BMGP?
CCEL This stem cell storage company has gained 400+ % in the past months and is growing at a quite brisk rate while liscencing its technology world wide…well worth a look
I find there are quite a few good potentials — but I will go with a Canadian stock
on the Toronto Venture Exchange
BXI Bio-Extraction Inc
It was a great buy at .70 in June and looks like it is getting ready to run again

I own 100000 shares and this junior minor continues to explode upward.
Check out TSHO. Should reach $2.00-$7.15 before Dec. 31st.
Wow, pumps are in full swing again. Don’t get sucked into “averaging down” when the dumps happen.
I already have the book, so I’ll just also cast my vote with AMNP. I’m in at a $0.90 average and will sell half sometime this week (possibly tomorrow) then keep the rest as long as it stays above its 30-minute moving average (might repurchase my sold shares near that level with very tight stops).
GRZ, mentioned in today’s Penny Sleuth email looks great, Holding GRZ over $1.00 is a good gamble.
Another gold penny spec that looks like it’s about to rally big is CGP on the TSXV in Canada. It broke out over 10 cents Friday and retracted to under 12 cents today. Perfect entry level buying on the pull-back.
NWI on the TSX had some good results today and looks on a trend to break out soon.
Last one, check GIX also on the TSE. This one is a real company with real management and real prospects. Rising over 20 cents on low volume, was $3.50 in late 2007.
Good luck everyone !!
KOOL-Thermo Genisus small cap Bio-Technology play involved in cord blood stem cell research. Up 35%
TGB-Tseko Mines. Small cap Canadian copper and molybdenum mining. Stock up over 68%. Possible take over target.
I’m sticking with General Moly GMO and betting that China may make a bid on this compnay driving the price up. They’ve got cash and they love cheap commodities.
KSK in Canada is another that looks prime for momentum.
Pros will recognize the volume accumulation and slow rising pre-breakout pattern.

My pick is FAX, Aberdeen Asia-Pacific Income Fund.
my pick is Lakeshore Gold..in Canada in historic elephant gold country, I am up 183% this year and it is still going up. It is ready to break out as the mining operation begins
MBA…education stock at low PE, low book, cash:debt = 14:1, expanding growth and under radar until announcing earnings very soon….look at volume…no sellers
It might be too late but CHFI has been a huge winner the last 2 weeks. URST has a significant vanadium discovery and upcoming listing on Toronto exchange. A great longer term fundamental play on natural gas in China is FEEC.
PCFG Pacific Gold Corp sold one mine to Chinese investors to finance 3 others….
VRX Valeant Pharameceuticals Inc. On a real good uptrend.
penny pix:myng,cbai
Skny- Skinny Water I think it’s ready to blast off.
IMPM – Impac Mortgage Holdings – rising and still has a way to go.
My pick is WMMVF.pk this is Wal-Mart of Mexico
and its been doing great for me. Good one for the
kids to buy now.
NPHC will be the biggest winner for this fall and by far the biggest winner for 2010. Just a little DD will clearly show you why and I am not a pumper, just a damn smart investor – Nuff Said!
RAM Power (RPG), new partnership, listed on Toronto Exchange yesterday. Consolidation of 4 smaller geothermal companies, including Polaris and Western Geothermal. (Research under old names) Reduced the number of outstanding shares and consolidated, new company opened at $3.30 yesterday. Reputed to be the largest geothermal company in the world. Two geothermal projects coming online soon for Western and Polaris.
I picked Kodiak oil and gas [KOG] and Imaging 3 [IMGG} about a year ago. Starting to take off,was wondering what you think of these picks.

amlm..started at .45..and went to over 2.9 in a few weeks..real winner…Lithium stock!
EDWY is the next google kind of thing. This is going to explode soon as they get ready beta launch.
KNDR has good prospects, swiss based alternative energy company.
TIDE– natural gas play crunched by the prices but when gas flips entry into US gulf fo Mexico –energy play
