Monday Penny Stock Watchlist: Bank Stocks Offer Another Chance at 20.5% Gains
Nov 30th, 2009 | By Jonas Elmerraji | Category: Featured, Penny stocks, Pink sheet stocks, Technical AnalysisAs Monday’s market struggles to push into the black today, all eyes are on Dubai. As the credit crunch contagion spreads to yet another country, investors are beginning to get nervous once again that a significant downturn could eat away at open portfolio positions.
But in the land of penny stocks, we’re somewhat insulated.
After all, with penny stocks historically leading the way out of recessions, and scores of these under-the-radar stocks still relatively undervalued, it’s time to look at how best to play the small-cap game. Our weekly Monday Penny Stock Watchlist gives us the chance to do just that.
Each week, we take a look at a list of penny stocks that are exhibiting abnormal volume, strong technicals, upcoming news, or another catalyst that suggested they might be making a material move in the coming week. Last week, readers had the chance to book 20.52% cumulative gains by betting on the positions that made the watchlist.
And this week, we’re taking a look at another four stocks – two long and two short – that could do well this week…
As usual, while our Watchlist errs on the safe side of small-caps, using technical analysis to tell us where a stock is headed, we opened the comments up to readers again last week, giving you the chance to offer up more speculative penny stock plays.
Check out the comments after this article on the Penny Sleuth website to get a glimpse at a slew of fresh user-submitter penny stock picks — and the chance to submit your own!
First, though, let’s take a look at this week’s penny stocks worth watching…

Northeast Bancorp (NASDAQ:NBN) – While this small savings bank stock has offered investors enough price swings in the past few months to make even the most seasoned shareholders queasy, a sustained uptrend is beginning to emerge, pointing to a higher finish by the end of the week. And while sparse volume has been one of the biggest contributors to the volatility of this stock, an uptick in volume in the last few trading sessions actually does a good job of confirming the upward potential of this tiny stock. Be very careful if you play shares of this company for the upside…
Nobility Homes (NASDAQ:NOBH) – This $39 million manufactured home maker has also seen a big uptick in volume lately to support its uptrend that’s sent shares up 22% this year. To be sure, this stock is the less volatile of this week’s two long-side plays, but that doesn’t mean that it’s not worth playing – a stagnant couple of weeks could mean a jump off of support.

Rockville Financial (NASDAQ:RCKB) – On the other side of the banking spectrum is Rockville Financial, a small Connecticut-based regional bank that’s been sliding in price since back in July. And while the stock broke through downtrending resistance – normally a technically good sign for bullish investors – finding resistance at the 50-day average coupled with a long way down to support could be enough to fuel this stock to move lower by Friday.
First Clover Leaf Financial (NASDAQ:FCLF) – Our final short-side play this week is First Clover Leaf Financial, an S&L stock that recently tried to swing investors’ attention its way by announcing as quarterly dividend in spite of hemorrhaging $8.8 million in its latest quarter. This stock is currently sporting bearish technicals to support the fundamental picture as well. We’re betting on seeing shares continue their descent this week after Monday’s early gains.

Watching Penny PBMRF.PK support at .24 resistance at .33
Earnings were awesome. Small volume watch it
My pick for the immediate short term (3-4 months) is CGNH.
CardioGenics Holdings.
They are working with Merck Chimie to manufacture and market silver coated paramagnetic beads.
I bought Origin Agritech stock symbol SEED in Jan of this year for $1.79 per share. ….It slowly went to $5.00
per share until it popped last week to over $10, and i am watching the nasdaq screen in my war room right now and at 15:30 wallstreet time it is now $13.20 and rising. ….I believe it has room to grow and am setting
my sell target between $25. and $32. ….ZAGG is a buy right now at $4.00 per share which i bought off the OTC at $0.90 per share in early 2008. It hit the Nasdaq exchange 3 weeks ago and is now in shorter
territory. Wallstreet has failed to notice this potentially great 40 bagger in the future and it is now advertising on television expending capitol for future profits of its great products which will expand and grow.
Been watching SGCP Sierra Gold Corp very interesting, Check it out
I have been watching BWNR it is at .0003 and they have been doing electro magnetic testing on property they have leases to, if it pans out with the price of gold, I would think this stock could have a good return, a reason it is at .0003 now, but who knows.
Watch MNAP (Manas petroleum), set for a break out. Should be a $5 to 7 stock based on reserves alone.
Looks like the this emerging company is at the bottom of it’s resistance. It’s my suggestion for the short term to midle term pick. Looks interesting to me now for the price from 30th of Nov.
Couple of weeks ago I had mentioned “ATNP” Today it went up 83%.
Today I want to mention “IGNT” 4B Respiratory Market. Ingen Tech is waiting for their ISO certification, So
They can start exporting to China, Japan, Europe, Austr and Canda. Pls do your own analysis and also check
out their web site http://WWW.INGEN-TECH.COM GOOD LUCK
Check it out DRUG a generic pharmaceutical company from China. The company is profitable and has low PE and earnings are improving with each quarter.
I like DRUG also. MY pick this week is MBA. China Education stock under the radar. Aggressive growth also in India, Vietnam and Africa. Owns venerable Sprott-Shaw College in Vancouver. Only stock in the market that meets the screen criteria for double digit revenue growth, triple digit earnings growth, single digit PE, and stock price less than 2 X book value. Four weeks ago quietly prviately placed 3MM shares at $ .70 with no warrants…no nada. The investors did the DD and decided to buy before upcoming annual report at only a 10% discount to market price….77 cents. Follow the smart money…
I have 2 stocks for you and I am sorry i am late in posting. First I would suggest EVSP.OTC BB as a nice play and in a growing sector with so much potential.
Second if you like mining stocks DGRI is one to watch over the next few days. Both I feel have unlimited potential and are just getting started. Anyone investing in either or both will IMHO be very happy within a short space of time.
thank you
Don
Keep a watchful eye on symbol PYCT. Even though the company is currently trading small (still testing) they are dealing with flushable feminine products & biodegradable diapers. Check out their site http://www.flushaway.com.
ZVTK – about to release an infomercial on the ionic light bulb that saves energy ( Lasts 10 times as long as regular bulbs and also sends out ions to clean the air. About to take off any day now. GO GREEN
BLGO & CCTR
Good luck ladies and germs
A purely speculative play with tremendous upside potential is GFGU – get fugu. I bought a few hundred shares after they had a brawl with SPNG – spongetech delivery systems, i bought SPNG at 0.02
early 2008. the technology of GFGU is un-noticed by wallstreet at this point in time, but can either be a
rocket launch in the future as a stand alone company, a ‘takeover play’, or even a prime merger candidate
by many of the other outstanding tech companies in this current ‘dog eat dog’ environment. ….Don’t expect
a weekly gain, or what may happen next month, or by early 2010 …..If you plan on playing the worlds greatest ’stud poker game’ for a while as long as i have, you understand you either win big, or lose big!
http://www.getfugu.com/
MCLN pulled back but should bounce back up the rest of this week. Take a look COTE for a long term pick.
They make a new valve system for combustion engines that if it takes off will be like the overhead cam was replacing rocking arms systems.
I would like to bring your attention to the Company Geeknet, Inc. (Nasdaq GM: LNUX). This Company , under the various names have had, in the piping times of yore, was selled very high, last years it was rather sleeping, and actually is making interesting movements. I see no real reason, the Company is in red, but it looks, the Company is gaining sympathy of the investors.
Yes Zaremba, I have been watching this one for a while and it ‘could’ be a future rocket launch. It has the capacity due to it’s open source technology to be bought out and expanded by bigger sharks in the water.
I have to share these two i bought a few months ago close to a bottom. Watch them closely!
Sprint Nextel- stock symbol (S) Exchange- NYSE . …..bought under $2.75. …..I’m Holding!
Vonage Holdings corp.- stock symbol (VG) Exchange-NYSE …..Bought at $1.10 a few months ago. Ditto.
Vonage has a nice market cap and a damned good pioneer of the still relatively new VOIP technology.
(voice over internet protocal) i could sell them now for a small profit, but i always ask myself ….”What would my teacher Peter Lynch do?…answer~ ….HOLD! for the 10 or 40 bagger!” …Holding longterm.
I have to add this one i bought dirt cheap mid 2009. …RENTECH INC. – stock symbol (RTK)
AMEX exchange. ….The fed gave them the ‘thumbs up’ on their bio-jet fuel. I’m Holding long!
I bought American Axle & Manufacturing corp @ $2.35 around the march bottom. They are now over $6.00
per share and poised to rise exponentially by late 2010, and i am certain they will be a $50. dollar stock
by early 2011. …..Think longterm gains. … (AXL) – Exchange- NYSE.
WATCH BANNEKER (BANI) MOVED BIG LAST YEAR BEFORE SPLIT. READY TO MOVE AGAIN!!!
Check out a new product for the 4g market. Put out by Proxim wireless PRXM. This is cell phone high speed connection. 3G=dial up and 4G=broadband. Watch AT@T and Verizon in their commercials just hammer each other and boast about 3G. Its actually funny. Do you see anybody advertise their network at dial up speeds today? These big guns do. Proxim did not have a super product until they came out with this 8100 series. and in their Nov 13 news release with lousy earnings they stated they cannot produce this product fast enough. Boy that kind of news sucks in this economy. In the mean time the stock doubled from 15 to 32 cents over the last several months quietly. While you do you own DD check out some of their sales to Borodino. Google ,Borodino and Proxim wireless .
Some big guns like AT@T and Verizon advertise 3G on a regular basis, BUT, if you watch what SPRINT has done they advertise 3G but include the 4G. And they are said to roll out this 4G near Philly this last quarter. I dont have a clue to their vendor. But the point is fast wireless (air card ) is here on the door step. Just pay attention.
LTUS, china pharma company, very cheap at current P/E of 2.98 in a nice up trend
A stock to watch if you are interested in ground floor. Check out ticker SNRG . If its real there is no better time to invest in this one
Regards to post 21. Understanding the numbers from Proxim wireless I did some checking into the Sprint 4g network. You can see in this video promo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UW8r52Ion3M
Sorry I do not see their choice as a future but a first one to the gate. Sorry Dan.
My point is rolling out a 1 meg to 6 meg when 4g can do 50 to 200 meg so whats the point.
